Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the safety information?+

Our database is compiled from veterinary sources, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, and peer-reviewed veterinary literature. It is designed as a quick reference, not a substitute for professional veterinary advice. If your dog has eaten something dangerous, call a vet immediately.

My dog just ate something โ€” what should I do?+

Call your veterinarian, an emergency animal hospital, or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435. A consultation fee may apply. Do not wait for symptoms to appear before calling.

Why do I need to enter my email for ingredient analysis?+

Ingredient analysis uses AI, which costs us money per request. The free tier (3 analyses) helps us keep quick searches free for everyone while covering infrastructure costs.

How do I cancel my subscription?+

Email support@isthissafeformydog.com from the address you used to sign up and we will cancel immediately. You will retain access until the end of your billing period.

A food is missing from your database โ€” can you add it?+

Yes, please email support@isthissafeformydog.com with the food name and we will research and add it. Our database grows based on user requests.

The result for a food seems wrong+

If you believe a safety rating is incorrect, email support@isthissafeformydog.com with the food and your source (e.g. a veterinary paper or ASPCA entry) and we will review it.
